Yes, I have been gone a long time.
Melvin had a virus that kept him ill for a week. He just returned tonight better than ever. I feel like I've been checked out of the world this whole time because I've only been online when absolutely necessary.
So, let's catch up!
I had my 27th birthday. It was lovely. I spent the weekend with the Brit as he took me to a birthday dinner of sushi and then to a music night at Hotel Cafe.
Legal Eagle and her boyfriend came up the next weekend and we went to an old Hollywood restaurant where we sat in Charlie Chaplin's booth.
I got tons of awesome gifts from everyone. And now I have a new camera so I can post pictures again! I took my first official picture...it was of Barbar.
Things are good, work is crazy. I'm way behind, but will have time to crank out tons of work.
My dad will be visiting next week for the first time since I've lived in Hollywood. I'm so excited to show him around and for him to meet the Brit. Uh oh!!
I will write more and get back to this, but for now, I am hungry.

Day 330 - And Here We Are

Day 309 - An Actual Blog
I haven't spent much time on here. Yikes! OK, so now I'll write a bit about my life and adventures or lack of adventures.
Work is work and still for jerks.
My apartment is slowly shaping up. Tomorrow Legal Eagle is coming up to help me paint. I'm so excited to finally get that going and to catch up with LE (we probably haven't seen each other in 2 weeks)! Hmmm, yet all the walls aren't taped. Someone has work to do. (Barbar, looking at you.)
It was my dad's birthday this week. I wish I were home for sushi tomorrow with the family. But I don't wish I were home for the cold weather. I suppose I hope they have fun without me...if it is possible.
What else? What else? Oh, I still need a camera. And I am finally thinking about getting a bed frame. A cheap one from Ikea of course. I just can't think about putting my bed back on it's ugly metal frame. This will all have to wait until I figure out what my taxes will be like since I was 1099'ed this year. Yikes!
The Brit is good. Well, he's been stressed a lot lately with computer stuff, work stuff, music stuff, money stuff, etc. I feel bad, but he's getting through it and stuff has been getting resolved. But we're good and hanging out on Valentine's Day. I decided to ask instead of hoping he would read my mind. I think he was worried that I wanted to go out to some expensive dinner, but I told him we should just cook and watch a movie.
I'm having a Dr. Pepper right now. Mmmm.
And Barbar is laying upside-down (not taping the walls).
And now I'm watching the Lifetime movie with DJ Tanner and Fred Savage and it is still the best one ever.
Oh, I finally got a new, working oven. And I'll be getting my tooth next week.
Okey-dokey artichokey, I feel like laying in bed now. I promise to write a more hilarious blog sometime. Promise!

Day 185 - Only My Dad...
...would call me just to tell me to call him later.
This is after he asks me at 8:30am if I'm awake. I wonder what he thinks my work week is like.

Day 163 cont. - A Little Of Me
^Me in my NY room before the big interviews. Sorry, I just look soooo cute! No wonder Benny/Binny hit on me.
^My nails were yellow in case you were wondering if I still painted them a lot. My toes are currently gold, which I got from my dad for Christmas. My nails are not painted because they need a little break, but then I am painting them "Miami Beet," also from my dad.
Day 163 cont. - Some Christmas Pictures
I've been meaning to post some holiday pictures. Here you go!

^Cookbook for the best pancakes ever!

^I really like this picture. Now stop smiling and get back to cooking my pancakes!

^What? The walls are blue?

^A man and his scotch.

^Two yokels who kept thinking the flash on the camera was too bright.

^Awww...now stop complaining because this picture is cute.

^Only took a few shots to get this right.

^OK, best one where we look equally as good, because we are laughing, I think mom said.

^Best one of my sisters and me!!

^Couldn't ask for better parents!!!!

Day 161 - I Need To Add These!
I think sometimes the best time to make New Year's resolutions is right after the new year because then you realize what you really want to be doing, so I am adding a few:
1. Take better care of my skin - I probably already have more products than I need, but now I want to right products. I needed new face lotion anyway, so I got one with SPF 45! Yes, my face will get no sun. Maybe it's because I'm aging (ew!) or I'm smarter now, but I feel like I can little signs of damage and I need to protect my face (plus I'm not so lame anymore and don't feel the need to look tan -- despite living in LA). Next up, a body lotion with SPF, but also with a nice scent. I think there is a baby powder one at Target!
2. Use caps - I used to write all friendly emails, texts, etc. in lowercase. I'm over this and am going back to proper English and grammer and punctuation. Even in texting I am using commas, caps and spelling most words out.
3. Get a haircut - Frick frack, it sure has been a long time since I got my hair cut...but I found the perfect place in LA. Great reviews, covered on Daily Candy and affordable! When I get paid next, I am making an appointment! Done!
4. Try out liquid eyeliner - I've done the all-over eyeliner thing and I don't think it works for my eyes (or maybe I just don't know how to do it), but I have been trying out just liquid eyeliner on my top lids. I definitely need some practice and maybe a higher quality bottle, but so far it is a nice change to my makeup routine. Must read some articles online about applying it now, great.
5. Start a book...writing one - Last year I wanted to start writing a Bride Brain book (about that awful wedding I was in), but I had soooo much trouble with it. My mom has mentioned an interning book (not sure how this idea ever came around, but I've always liked it). I prefer writing personal experience stuff instead of creative fiction. I think I really want to start actually writing it, not like a serious book, but funnier yet still informative and personal. I can't say much, you might steal my idea. Maybe I should start with an outline or just jot ideas down? Something to feel like I'm working on it at least? :)
6. Work on screenplay - Oldest sister needs to kick my butt. I am going to add our notes to our main notes this weekend. It's a good idea and I like working with her.
Sooo...that's mostly it I think. In other news, I broke and added my dad as my Facebook friend since he has chosen not to reach out and add me! He's too cool or something I'm sure.

Day 152 - Change O' Plans
Schedule is being moved around now:
X-mas party on Saturday is still happening, but now it is at an employee's complex's clubhouse thing. Eh. And it's potluck.
- It was first supposed to be go-kart racing then Dave and Busters then a comedy show and now this. Oh well, booze and a few fun people who I really enjoy and probably some entertaining drama.
I'm going to NEW YORK! Just Wednesday I was asked if I wanted to go to NY on Monday to do a movie set visit and interviews. I thought and nearly passed out and then said YES!!! I can't wait and am not prepared at all. I just want to be in NY and enjoy the set visit and wander and maybe eat a calzone at this place that I used to go to when I was there for a semester. So many thoughts in my head that I can't even organize myself. But I've decided to be excited instead of nervous because my dad once told me that nervousness is just the negative of excitement, that it's the same energy of something. So, YAY for ME!!!
Oh, so my dentist is being postponed a week because of NY. :)
Probably many pictures to come!

Day 12 - Bikes Lost Forever
I had no idea if I was going to write today, but then some funny little stories all came together about bikes.
My oldest sister had her bike stolen in a way last year…well, it sort of disappeared and we thought we knew where it went, but it was all very confusing. However, this is not the point. Today I received a call from her saying she thinks she saw her bike. Although she wasn’t sure and was trying to get a closer look, I have reason to believe her. Her bike was maroon and kind of that old style of bikes (which is not common to see in Chicago).
So she isn’t sure it was hers, but how out of a movie is that - so oddly poetic. You know, some little artsy movie where she sees her long-lost bike and all these memories come flooding back.
Well, for me only one memory came back. When I was much younger, my dad and maybe my sisters and I went riding and my dad was riding the maroon bike and I remember him getting heckled by some little teenage boys who thought the bike looked funny or looked like a girl’s bike. I doubt anyone else remembers this, but for some reason it is the only thing that bike reminds me of.
Told Legal Eagle about my sister’s bike, which then brought up her own bike story. When she was younger her bike was stolen and then about 2 weeks later they found it in a dumpster.

^ This is the closest thing I could find to a bike in a dumpster…I do like that it is a little girl’s bike, although it doesn’t quite fit the image LE has set in my mind. And now I am wondering if she took the bike out of the dumpster or if it was a lost cause…will ask later.
The final bike story is the best, although right now I am having a bit of trouble remembering all the details. When my dad was little he used to ride his bike to school. One day it was stolen. Not funny yet? Well, his house was only about a block away from school and yes, he rode to and from every day. We once drove past his school and old house on a family trip where he recounted this story. I’m pretty sure he still misses that bike. And if you were to ever see a picture of my dad when he was little, this story gets even funnier because he quite simply looked like a funny, little kid.
While Holly and Val don’t have any stolen bike stories, Holly did get Val’s car towed once and had to lie and say it was stolen. Although at the time I think she thought it was stolen and then later they find out that it was towed.

However, this is one of the episodes I am not crazy about. Mostly because Henry is in it and I was never a huge fan of his. In fact, the Henry episodes are probably some of the worst (if it’s possible for this show to have bad episodes).
Completely different note: Kara Saun from one of the Project Runway seasons was a costume designer for WILAY during the last seasons, which makes total sense if you think about Holly and Val’s clothes. Think about it!
