Day 349 - Nice Try

Well, that whole going to stick to this thing didn't really work. But I'll keep trying.

But, in the meantime, I finally have a car! It's amazing! Doing stuff is so much easier!

Ok, now I'll for real try to stick with this. After all, I have so much more free time now!

Day 348 - Hi

It's almost been a whole year. I really want to get back to this blog. Hold me to it. So....let's see how this goes!

Day 347 - I'm 28!

I have finally turned 28 years old. It feels awesome.

Actually, it feels suspiciously like 27.

My birthday was awesome. I got lots of awesome presents and birthday wishes.

Legal Eagle and her fiance came up the weekend before my birthday. We all went out to Candela Taco Bar and then to Little Bar Lounge for trivia night! It was so much fun and we did pretty well with the trivia.

The night before my birthday the Brit and I went to our local joint for drinks. He informed the bartender of my birthday which resulted in the bartender having the whole bar sing me Happy Birthday. It's a shockingly long song. The bartender then also announced that the Brit and I met there two years ago. A gaggle of girls next to me started aww-ing and oh-that's-so-cute-ing and for real?-ing.

On my actual birthday, the Brit took me to three places. We first went to the Blue Boar where we played this hook game where you swing a ring thing on a rope and try to hook it. He didn't let me win even though it was my birthday! It was a lot of fun, love the game.

We then went to iOWest where we saw an improv show that was actually really good. That stuff can be hit or miss, but we cracked up the whole time.

Eventually, we stopped at a little Mexican restaurant/bar where we ate and watched the women's gymnastics team finals for the Olympics! I apparently put a wrench in his original plan when I requested watching the event the night of my birthday. Oops.

But, the whole night was tons of fun. And I'm going home in less than two weeks to see my family! I plan to just keep celebrating my birthday while I'm there (and other birthdays I suppose).

^ The Brit and I on my birthday night. While we do look awfully good, I think Barbar really steals the picture all lounged out in the background. Damn cat always upstaging me!

Day 346 cont. - Palm Springs

The Brit and I went to Palm Springs a little bit over a month ago. It was hot, not miserably so, and very relaxing. Here are some pictures from our trip:

First, we actually went to a duck pond in Orange County with Legal Eagle and her beau.

So many hungry ducks.

Our view from where we stayed in Palm Springs.

                                                         Palm trees in Palm Springs.

A giant Marilyn Monroe statue that is there for the next year. It's traveling around the country.

"C'mon. Everyone wants to know what she's wearing under the dress." - Me about all the squares awkwardly avoiding looking up her dress.

                                                         Me standing under Marilyn.

Another view. I need to take that stupid date/time stamp off my pictures.

A rabbit I was obsessed with getting a picture of.

                                                             Another rabbit picture.

                                                             The mooooooooon.

We mostly spent our time grilling and swimming. Oh, and playing a celebrity guessing game where we gave clues to guess who we were. It was fun and addictive. That's all folks!

Day 346 - How Was I Supposed To Know?

Conversation after watching 'Man on a Ledge' starring Sam Worthington:
The Brit: I kind of look like Sam Worthington in the reflection of the TV.
Me: Oh, well I don't really know what he looks like. What's he been in?
The Brit: (gives me a look).
Me: What?
The Brit: He hasn't been in anything you've seen.

Day 345 - Or An Eco-Conscious Kid?

"They had a vegetarian, I guess."                                                                                        ^Me telling Legal Eagle about a couple who did a "baby reveal party" by dying a cake either blue or pink so that when it was cut everyone would see if they were having a boy or girl. Their cake ended up green.

Day 344 - Perfect Random Date

The Brit rented a car while his mom was in town. More on that later.

However, he had the car longer than she was here because it was the same price for a weekly rental as it was for five days. So, he had filled the car up and had more gas than he needed to return it with. All this added up to us driving all the way out to Malibu yesterday night.

It was so much fun! We drove all along the coast and saw (we think) where Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston got married.

We also saw Baywatch!

^Yup, saw that!

Actually, it's Zuma Beach. I didn't know we were going up there, but was so excited to see it. He never really watched the show (crazy!) so he didn't know much about the settings. We totally passed the office area where the lifeguards would hang out in between patrolling the crazy beach.

Then we drove up a little further to some curve area where I guess a lot of car commercials are shot.

But, the best part was we were looking for some little place to eat and ended up at Neptune's Net.

It was the perfect seafood shack we were looking for. I had yummy fish tacos and he had crab cakes. He thought my fish tacos were the best he's ever had. They were pretty great because the tortilla was nice and warm...and the tacos had pineapple in them. Yum! But, I think the setting and little trip made them even better.

^My fish tacos! Well, not mine, but the same ones I ordered.

We had to eat outside under heat lamps which was perfect for the setting. The place doesn't stay open really late, and we actually made it there 15 minutes before closing!

It was such a great time except for some annoying little boy who apparently did a cartwheel in front of the Brit and then yelled, "Cartwheel, bro!" Actually, now that I think about that it sounds like it was funny, but the Brit swears it was annoying. Oh well.

Day 343 - Date Night

I am going to see The Hunger Games on Friday!!

I am so freaking excited after reading the first book. I am taking the Brit on a date to the movie which was supposed to be a surprise but then he figured it out and I confirmed it.

But before that, we are going to get burgers at Stout! (Which is still a surprise.)

I have wanted to go forever because their happy hour menu has all the fancy burgers for just $5 each. And sides are discounted, too!

I'm very much looking forward to this because most of our time lately hanging out has been basketball watching with his friends ... which has been fun, but it's time for a change.

But until then, I have to clean, work and go to the dentist. Yuck.

Day 342 - The Cable Problem

I pay way too much for my cable. So now, I am considering the unimaginable...I may get rid of it.

Currently, I am weighing both sides.

I am obsessed with TV so I will miss having it on all the time.

Plus, 'Real Housewives' and other Bravo shows don't seem to be readily available online.

However, I could save lots of money and likely have more time for more important things.

I could watch other shows online like the rest of the world.

My work involves TV, but I really don't need to be watching it...I suppose.

Plus, maybe no TV will encourage me to get things moving on other projects and work.

So much to think about.

Day 341 - Freaking Daylight Savings!

I love daylight savings time!!!

Sure, I totally hated it yesterday when I lost an hour of my day.

But, today, at just past 6:00pm, it is still light outside! And it's only going to continue getting better. I love this!!!!
