Day 291 - How A Girl Has A Conversation When She Doesn't Want To

The Brit came over to drop my keys back off and to hang out for a bit this afternoon.

Me: Something's bothering me.

The Brit: What?

(silence for about 10 minutes)

Me: It bothers me that I don't hear from you much in between seeing you.

The Brit: Yeah, I'm really bad at that. I've had guy friends complain about it.

(silence for about another 10 minutes as I was not satisfied with that answer)

Me: It really does bother me though. I want you to understand that.

The Brit: I'm sorry. I am bad at that, but I'll give it all my effort to work on it. I mean it.

(The Brit leaves about an hour later)

Text from the Brit minutes later: Hi. :) Just a thought. Turn on the oven and open the oven door for 20 minutes. Works nicely for warmth.

(I had been complaining about my cold apartment)

Guess he's already figuring out the texting thing. I feel better, but won't be opening the oven door because the cats might jump in.

Day 290 - Puke Trip

Thanksgiving was great.

The trip back was not.

I first puked outside the airport.

And then I puked in the airport restroom.

A drunk douche sat next to me for the second part of the flight.

He wanted to talk.

He didn't understand that I didn't want to talk.

He called me grouchy.

I ignored him.

The shuttle was fine.

I am home and Barbar is happy.

More later.

I go home to Chicago in less than two days!

Day 288 - Accepting Criticism From Total Strangers Who May Be Completely Illiterate Morons For All I Know

Sometimes with my job I get little rude comments from people who read what I have written.

Sometimes the people choose to comment and use my name which feels a little condescending.

Sometimes people try to correct me when they really aren't correct.

I'm trying to learn not to let this bother me.

But for now, I'm working on figuring out how to type out the middle finger in an emoticon in order to respond.

Maturity, I am a shining example.

Day 287 -Woo Woo!

I'm in a good mood because I have cranked out work today.

I also got my Thanksgiving schedule approved by my boss, one that I came up with so am 100% OK with it.

And now I am enjoying some Harry Potter on TV and about to start my packing list for Thanksgiving in Chicago!

For your enjoyment, a conversation I had with the Brit:

Me: Do you like artichokes?

Brit: Yeah, there are few foods I don't like. Like Whoppers.

Me: (gasp)

Brit: What? I don't like the malt taste.

Me: Oh, phew. I thought you meant the burger Whopper. I was like "Dealbreaker."

Brit: What? No, that's like saying "I don't like life."

Day 286 - Break Time?

I am beat.

I have recently taken on more work (because I am an idiot and think I have 30 hours in my day).

But it's mostly been OK. The work isn't so excessive that I don't have time for everything.

But it has been a lot. And I felt under the weather this week. And I had a headache yesterday.

I think my body is telling me something.

So now I'm drinking lots of water. And staying bundled up because it's cold out.

I promise to update this more and actually write what is going on in my life...when something starts going on.

Until then, drink some hot chocolate.

Day 285 - At Least I Offered

After helping the Brit move his fish to his new place, I laid on the floor while he set them up and did new apartment stuff.

The Brit: Let me grab one thing and then we can leave.

Me: Can I help with anything?

The Brit: I like how you ask that as we're almost out the door.

Day 284 cont. - Yahooooooooo!

My laptop cord came and works!

Melvin is so happy.

Now to lock the cord away in a secret closet where the cats cannot get to it.

Day 284 - Oh Technology: Part 2

My little laptop, Melvin, is not charging. I believe the cord is screwed up because the cats have nibbled on the part that plugs into my laptop and it doesn't fit correctly.

After going to Best Buy Monday afternoon and purchasing a Universal plug for Asus netbooks, I discovered Universal meant all netbooks except mine.

And then, after the Brit took me back to Best Buy that night, I only discovered that they do not have one for mine and I have to specially order it.

So, I've ordered one and it should be coming today or tomorrow.

But now I'm panicking that it might not be the cord. What if it's my laptop or something that is the problem? I just want the damn cord here already so I can figure it out.

So, for now, I'm using my old, giant laptop that is slooooooow.

I miss the days of pen and paper.
