Day 22 - Another Year Wiser??

I am one day away from my 24th birthday and as I was sitting eating my bagel with goat cheese (a gift from my parents, yes, I got goat cheese for my birthday) I thought that this year I just may feel a bit wiser, as they say you should.

But just because I am wiser this year, doesn’t mean I won’t continue to do things like get my shoe stuck in cake.

^ Very good episode and unusual because they are outside for most of it.

But back to what I have become wiser about:

- While public transportation is great, sometimes you just must break down and call a cab.

- It is possible to truly love a piece of clothing, a bag or a pair of shoes (especially when they are birthday gifts).

^ Like when Holly loved her cashmere sweater.

- Bread should be eaten rustic style.

- People come as advertised (as Greg Behrendt told us). This is not only wise, but applies to The Doc, who I had a convo with that went something like this:

A couple days ago:

Doc: What are you up to tonight?

Me: Sisters are in town.

Doc: Oh, just wanted to see if you wanted to go out tonight.

Me: Can’t, but maybe Monday or Tuesday?

Doc: Should work next week. Maybe Sunday, we’ll talk then.

(first, Sunday wasn’t an option as my sisters were still in town).

Then last night:

Doc: What’re you up to tonight? Wanna get together? Happy early birthday by the way.

Me: Thanks, can’t tonight and going out of town soon.

(side note: I really was busy last night as I was helping Legal Eagle at work because her boss needs some things organized and we didn’t get home until close to 9 and he hadn’t booked me for Tuesday whatsoever).

Doc: Oh, thought we were getting together tonight.

Me: Didn’t know you were gonna be free. I’ll be back on the 5th.

Doc: OK, we should get together soon.

And now I have come to realize that he is completely as advertised and will probably never make a plan in advance when it comes to me. And as LE asked:

If you were really into him, you would be going out, wouldn’t you?

And I would have. So, sorry Doc, I’m just don't know if I'm that into you or into going out at the last minute. (Plus the boys in Long Beach are oh-so-cute, but that isn’t the only reason I want to move there).

^ When Holly went to Florida for Vince, now that is being into someone.

OK, back to things I am wiser about:

- Vegas is fun, but you can only survive there for a couple of days.

- I now know when there is something I really want, like a job. As I just got yet another rejection, I’ve come to realize that almost all of these places I have applied to are not places I see myself working. So now it’s a matter of finding a place I see myself. Oh yeah, and that whole timing thing.

- Don’t try to light your gas stove with newspaper that you light on fire. Don’t worry, there were no injuries whatsoever.

- Cats shouldn’t eat string.

- I’m really quite funny, like, I can make myself laugh just about all the time.

OK, so that’s a pretty rough, but accurate list. Plus I don’t feel like writing much more and I have a million things to do before going off to Galveston for a few.

Happy Birthday to me! Sorry, the blog will be temporarily stalled during my trip, but I will report back with all the fun and adventures!

Day 21 - It's Been A While...

It has been far too long since I last visited this blog due to my sisters’ visits. But there was much fun with my girlies and Martini all week.

I got to see some of my most favorite people: Chelsea Handler and Greg Behrendt.

Both were more than I could ever ask for. I even got a picture with Greg (which my sister has on her camera) and got to tell him how obsessed I used to be with his old talk show. Embarrassing, but I’m sure he was flattered.

Once Martini arrived, we took him to a dog beach.

Middle sister: Isn’t Long Beach creepy?

Me: No.

a few minutes pass…

Me: It’s Schlong Beach that’s creepy.

Middle Sister: (laughs)

a few minutes pass….

Me: (laughs)

Middle Sister: What?

Me: Ha…Schlong Beach…

And we also got Sprinkles Cupcakes!

Me: I want the red velvet one now.

Legal Eagle: I want a bite of Molly’s red velvet one.

Oldest sister: I want the vanilla one.

LE: I want a bite of (oldest sister’s) vanilla one.

Middle sister: I want the peanut butter one.

LE: I want a bite of (middle sister’s) peanut butter one.

Middle sister: Do you want the lemon one?

LE: Yeah.

As you can tell, the cupcakes were quite enjoyable and LE and I still have some sitting in our fridge as well as some sweet cookies from my parents for my upcoming birthday.

Speaking of which, I got some wonderful gifts from everyone and more are to come apparently. But I also got something not so great.

^ not my actual mailing

But I got a letter from AARP yesterday…also an early birthday gift??

So I am preparing to turn 24 in 2 days. I’m feeling rather ready as I stare at my cute, new birthday gift shoes. (I will at some point put pictures up, but am also rather lazy today).

But in honor of my birthday:

^ Gary’s birthday party

^ Tina’s birthday party.

I could not find pictures from the episode where Holly gets $2000 from her grandmother and then kind of loses it and then spends her birthday at The Plaza, but that’s a really great episode.

OK, time to flip the laundry, but hopefully I will blog some more today and fill in some blanks from the last crazy week.

Day 20 - Shoe Heaven

Went to DSW (a former place of employment) today and felt very calm. I really enjoy being around shoes.

But it made me realize that when I start to make more/some money, I am going to spend it on shoes instead of clothes. Shoes are just too much fun.

Although I will still spend some on clothes of course, but I’ll be more balanced about it.

Time with oldest sister has been fun.

Except that we had to have our apartment sprayed and had to empty the kitchen and bathroom and vacate for hours today and board the kitties. But now we are back home.

Off to the movie screening tonight! Fun fun!

Day 19 - He's A Close Talker

Had an incredible night last night.

Covered an event and it went wonderfully.

Oldest sister arrives today.

Must go get ready, grocery shop and finish any last minute cleaning.

I will try to blog during her and middle sister’s stay, but I make no promises.

Time for the fun to begin!

Day 18 - Have I Drifted?

I’m feeling a little unfocused on my WILAY goals. While they are somewhat hard to keep track of and make sure that I am doing them, I feel like I need to keep their progress a little better.

So, I’m going to quickly review the progress.

OK, there was some stuff about hair and makeup on there. I have not gotten my hair cut yet because I can’t decide on what I’m going to do. I really kind of want bangs again, but then I always think about how I won’t be able to just pull them back. I will further process this and make a decision post-birthday.

Clothing change has started. I did take some things out of my closet to get rid of. I might need to do a second cleaning out to really see what I never wear and never will wear.

Hmmm…fabulous job….let’s not talk about this one.

Unfortunately LE and I still live at our apartment, but we are determined. At least it’s cleaner than it usually is and I cleared the drains in the bathroom somewhat.

Oh, my plethora of boys, definitely need to refocus on that one. Feeling slightly disorganized.

One that is going quite well is the zany situations. From pretending to be a couple with LE to the upcoming fun with my sisters, I’m sure this will only get better and better. I must say I’ve been quite successful with this one.

Now, how organized have I gotten? Not that much. I did go through some of my clips and print stuff off, but I haven’t really gotten things together. As soon as my sisters leave, I will dedicate a day to organizing all this. I swear!

Oh and then there is the pesky not wanting to think about money issue. Well, we won’t talk about this one right now either.

I guess technically, I’m still in Season One, where Val’s hair is highlighted all wrong and over-curled and Holly’s clothes are a little boring and they are both just coming into their own.

^ From Season One.

It’ll be just a matter of time before I’m at Season Four.

^ Season Four, where they look so much better.

Although I truly believe that Season Three was the best for both of them. But I couldn’t yet find a picture with both of them. I will soon and post it so everyone else can see the HUGE difference!

Day 17 - Cheer Up Buttercup

I have been in a major funk. And it’s time for it to end.

So, while I have been dwelling over all the annoying, sucky things going on, I’ve decided to focus on the fun and exciting things that are coming up.

Now here is my list of upcoming fun!

- I get to cover a wonderful event with huge names and while I completely think I’ll be a bit of a mess, it’ll be a huge accomplishment and I think I need to start thinking of it that way.

- My sisters are coming! Finally, I get to have some family visit me out here! While it’s been stressful getting ready and making sure all pieces are in place, I can’t wait to see them and know it will be an absolute blast.

- Martini is coming! My middle sister has the best dog ever and he is making a trip out to California (possibly to become a movie star).

- Movie screening Monday. It’s a small movie, but I get to take LE and my oldest sister to it, so I feel pretty cool. Very excited that I get to take my sister to a fancy, private, advance screening with comfy comfy seating.

- Chelsea Handler Show!! Finally I get to go to a taping. I’m so excited to see her in person and I hope she has a super great guest on the show.

- Possible studio tour. Oldest sister and I might go on a tour. And while this is totally lame in a way, I foresee a million laughs along the way. Plus we’ll probably get yelled at or in trouble or kicked off the lot.

- My hero - Greg Behrendt (He’s Just Not That Into You). LE and both sisters and I are going to his show next week. I am sooooo excited. And I can tell him I was probably the only person in the world who watch his short-lived talk show everyday.

- My bowling gift card. Finally going to use it with my visitors. Nice to get something for free!

- I do have an interview with a company that publishes a couple of magazines. Unsure about it as of now, but it’ll be interesting to hear what the job would entail and if it’s what I want to do that could easily sway me.

- My birthday is in about 2 weeks. While I do not like to make a huge deal out of my birthday and get rather overwhelmed once it gets here, I think I will be OK this year. I’m just going to let people fawn over me and do whatever they want and take it easy. Ha.

- I will soon have had a Sprinkles cupcake.

- I’m working my way through all the Shopaholic books and love them and can totally relate to Becky, although it’ll be sad when I’m done with them.

- My sister’s calendar for California. My oldest sister and I figured out how to make and share a calendar on Gmail, so we can add things and stay organized, but we can both use it and we are having so much fun with it.

- Griffith Observatory. Oldest sister and I are going to go and she’s going to say, “What are you rebelling against?” To which I will respond, “What have you got?” And then we’ll drive off a cliff.

- Doggie beach with Martini. Have I mentioned how fabulous and gorgeous he is???

OK, that’s about all I can think about for now. But now I am super excited and feeling better.

^ So not how I will be greeting my sisters at the airport. Sorry girls!!

Day 16 - Changing Standards

I’ve come to realize that my life would be a lot easier if I could only be happy with changing my standards.

As I have been job hunting today (I’m so boring, this is all I do and all I write about), but I have passed countless openings in work that I would never want to do. Some of them are even along the lines of writing, etc. but it would be for business and technology magazines. The thought of working on that sort of stuff is enough to make me punch myself in the head (ala Joey from The Real World).

But if only I could be OK with working some boring job, then I could have things all sorted out. Too bad I’m not more like a robot and able to reprogram myself to like business. (Although I have no qualifications for writing about business).

Then all this got me thinking about other things I would reprogram. Like my clothing standards. I feel like I have talked to my sisters about this, but how much easier would it be if I liked to wear Tweety Bird shirts and tapered jeans. I would save loads of money!

I could reprogram the kind of guys I like and then just date everyone because I wouldn’t care. Everyone would be so much more fascinating!

Maybe I could even reprogram the things that people do that annoy me. Like I would no longer find winking to be insanely creepy and maybe I would even reprogram myself to like grocery shopping and talking on the phone…well, let’s not go crazy here.

But there are definitely some things I would not reprogram:

- My love for reality TV

- The fact that alcohol can solve my problems

- My ability to always get lost

- My insane people-watching skills

- The fact that at “almost” 24 years old, I can still be entertained by any shows on ABC Family or the Disney channel

- My ability to always be entertained by WILAY

Speaking of which, the other day I saw an episode I had never ever seen (I swear!). And I know my oldest sister is thinking I’m a liar and how is that possible. But it is! It was when Holly and Vince first start to like each other, well she does at least. And he stays over because they were putting together a grill. And I had never seen that one!

^ see, there’s the grill.

But it was super good and I feel like now I have accomplished a goal of seeing every episode. Unless there is some mystery episode I haven’t seen, which would be amazing. Cross my fingers!

Day 15 - Timing?

I’ve heard for about the last many months of my job search that it is all about timing and I just have to wait and it’ll all come together at the right time.

Well, I now completely and utterly hate hearing this. The timing is right now, go ahead and check my bank account if you aren’t sure.

And I’m not really sure why people say this, but I suspect it’s because there isn’t much else to say when you have gone on 5 million interviews without one turning out right.

However, as I am preparing for my sisters’ arrivals to California (oh and Martini), I figure timing must be playing into it right now. I mean, if I had gotten a job in the last few weeks, what would I have done about their visits? Already ask for time off? Or make them find their way around LA without me?

So, I’m going to tell myself one last time that it is all about timing and now just isn’t right. But, as soon as they are on a plane back to Chicago, I better have some serious prospects.

Here’s to timing!

^ If timing can work out for them, then it can work out for me!

Oh, and Lauren “Lo” Bosworth is also unemployed and looking for work, so I am going to consider us in the same boat…although hers is probably a lot nicer.

Link to “Lo” being in my boat.

Day 14 - I Live In Crimesville

The oddest and freakiest thing happened yesterday morning.

Legal Eagle and I were leaving to return a movie and grocery shop when we ran into a neighbor who told us that we had to stay in our unit because there was an accomplice somewhere and 6 cop cars outside not letting us out.

But our movie was due back that day at noon or else we would have to buy it!!! (It was Jumper, which was pretty good for an action movie, but not one that I would want to buy).

So while we were thoroughly confused by this, we got in the car to try to leave and investigate. We then saw a handful of cop cars blocking our street exits and cops in helmets scattered on our block.

We found out it had something to do with a gun and were asked if we heard gunshots - we hadn’t. And then as we asked to leave, the cop asked if we were headed to church. It was hard not to laugh at this question.

But we made it out and spent the day doing other things and returned to any empty complex. Situation was taken care of and no one had been hurt. Just a gun spotted on some people walking around the building I believe.

But, this is sooo not out of WILAY. Holly and Val would never have dealt with this. Except when Gary pretended that there was a creeper in the area where Tina lives, so what he could move into her huge loft to protect her.

^ Gary explaining about the robber/creeper.

Oh, but in one episode Holly does get her purse stolen and the guy has a gun I think. But I can’t find a picture of it.

LE and I survived though, but are taking this as a major sign that we need to move. Time to get even more serious than as serious as I was.

T-minus 5ish days until my oldest sister is here! And then just another 5 days until my middle sister and Martini (the best dog in the whole world) get here! Looks to be a crazy few weeks out here in Crimesville.

Day 13 - I Do Pro Bono Work

Pro bono publico - (usually shortened to pro bono) is a phrase derived from Latin meaning “for the public good.” The term is sometimes used to describe professional work undertaken voluntarily and without payment as a public service.

^ as defined by Wikipedia

I’m not sure what I consider myself currently, as far as employment goes.

Ideally, I like to think of myself as self-employed. Like I don’t need to be working in an office and somehow have everything I need and want. But this little scenario is not really the case.

At other times I reluctantly consider myself unemployed. However, there are times when I can realize that this isn’t 100% true because I do work, freelance, etc. and make a few bucks here and there.

So while this little problem will not be decided on for some time I’m sure, I have managed to come to one conclusion. After agreeing to do more writing for free (because I need to have as much writing experience as possible to “make it.”), I realized that I am writing for roughly 3 or 4 publications free of charge. So now, I am choosing to say that I am a pro bono writer.

I mean, really, I do my work all for the good of the public, like a lawyer or doctor would.

So it’s decided.

And while this may seem all glamorous and relaxed, it is so not like when Val worked from home, starting her own company and wasn’t making any money.

^ Couldn’t find any pictures of Val when she started her business from home, but here is one where she is trying to get a new client. Plus it has Lauren in it and I definitely need to get into more situations like Lauren…highly awkward ones, but totally funny ones.

Val never had to worry about money when she was working at home. Plus she had a totally awesome loft and even a sort of office area. My laptop is next to my bed on a tiny table. Not quite the same.

But my pro bono work will continue. It’s my way of giving back in the best way possible. Sure I may not save any lives, but I just might recommend a TV show that someone ends up loving and isn’t that better than saving a life.

On a side note: For those of you wondering from yesterday’s post if Legal Eagle did take her bike out of the dumpster when she was a child…yes, she did and she continued to ride it.

Thursday, July 10, 2008

Day 12 - Bikes Lost Forever

I had no idea if I was going to write today, but then some funny little stories all came together about bikes.

My oldest sister had her bike stolen in a way last year…well, it sort of disappeared and we thought we knew where it went, but it was all very confusing. However, this is not the point. Today I received a call from her saying she thinks she saw her bike. Although she wasn’t sure and was trying to get a closer look, I have reason to believe her. Her bike was maroon and kind of that old style of bikes (which is not common to see in Chicago).

So she isn’t sure it was hers, but how out of a movie is that - so oddly poetic. You know, some little artsy movie where she sees her long-lost bike and all these memories come flooding back.

Well, for me only one memory came back. When I was much younger, my dad and maybe my sisters and I went riding and my dad was riding the maroon bike and I remember him getting heckled by some little teenage boys who thought the bike looked funny or looked like a girl’s bike. I doubt anyone else remembers this, but for some reason it is the only thing that bike reminds me of.

Told Legal Eagle about my sister’s bike, which then brought up her own bike story. When she was younger her bike was stolen and then about 2 weeks later they found it in a dumpster.

^ This is the closest thing I could find to a bike in a dumpster…I do like that it is a little girl’s bike, although it doesn’t quite fit the image LE has set in my mind. And now I am wondering if she took the bike out of the dumpster or if it was a lost cause…will ask later.

The final bike story is the best, although right now I am having a bit of trouble remembering all the details. When my dad was little he used to ride his bike to school. One day it was stolen. Not funny yet? Well, his house was only about a block away from school and yes, he rode to and from every day. We once drove past his school and old house on a family trip where he recounted this story. I’m pretty sure he still misses that bike. And if you were to ever see a picture of my dad when he was little, this story gets even funnier because he quite simply looked like a funny, little kid.

While Holly and Val don’t have any stolen bike stories, Holly did get Val’s car towed once and had to lie and say it was stolen. Although at the time I think she thought it was stolen and then later they find out that it was towed.

However, this is one of the episodes I am not crazy about. Mostly because Henry is in it and I was never a huge fan of his. In fact, the Henry episodes are probably some of the worst (if it’s possible for this show to have bad episodes).

Completely different note: Kara Saun from one of the Project Runway seasons was a costume designer for WILAY during the last seasons, which makes total sense if you think about Holly and Val’s clothes. Think about it!

Day 11 - This One Is For The Guys!

^ Mine and Legal Eagle’s fridge of numbers

Since we moved into our apartment last summer, we began collecting numbers from men who did not interest us and hang them on our fridge (which technically this began our senior year of college, but to a much smaller degree). I’m not sure if any of these guys believe we will call, but I do know that one often hoped. And another once asked us why we didn’t call although we struggle to remember who each number belongs to, so we weren’t sure if we had said we would.

However, these numbers have given us hours of entertainment and anytime we feel a little down, a glance at our fridge brings back many strange and hilarious memories. So I guess in a way we owe a Thank You to all these…interesting guys, although they don’t need to know that for fear of getting their hopes up again.

Unfortunately, a new number hasn’t been added up there in a little while. Possibly because we have been going out to different places and trying new things. And we haven’t been as focused on it as maybe we should be. So…I believe that this weekend LE and will need to get at least one new number to add up there. Our fridge is feeling awfully lonely.

Oh, and if you’re wondering about the purple and yellow post-its on there, those were numbers we got in our phones that we then transferred to the fridge. We keep our fridge of numbers very organized and take it very seriously. And I would advise every girl out there to start their own fridge of numbers, it is so worth it. And as LE pointed out to me:

If Holly and Val weren’t so relationship crazy, they would have had a fridge of numbers too.

And since we are on the topic of guys, The Doc texted me yesterday. Mind you, it has been over a week since we went out and haven’t talked since then. But he was very flirty in his texts, or was at least trying to be. However, I’ve realized that it is very difficult to keep my attention and since I hadn’t talked to him in a while, I’ve sort of written him off in my head. Plus, it’s not like he even asked me out again, so I’m really not sure I understand him. (And I know if my sister reads this, she’ll ask why I can’t ask him out, but he has already told me that his schedule is sooo odd and unpredictable, so it’s really up to him).

But LE and I are going to the OC Fair this weekend and I’m pretty sure we’re going to have a whole lot of fun. And I really hope they have corn dogs since I’ve never actually had one and that has been one of my goals since being out here. And I’m pretty sure there was a WILAY episode where Holly goes to Coney Island and talks about eating a corn dog.

Day 10 - Hope & Faith

Today I managed to catch an old show that my mom once got me hooked on, Hope & Faith (starring my favorite Kelly Ripa).

What makes it sooo special is that it is just a slightly older version of WILAY. Nothing much to say about it other than how great it is and how I totally forgot that. I think I need a little more of that show in my life.

I have started organizing my clothes and getting rid of stuff I don’t, but it is very difficult because I come across something I never wear, but then imagine an amazing outfit with it and plan to wear it later (but never will).

On a completely different note, here are some conversations between Legal Eagle and me recently:

LE: There was a crazy swarm of bees on the road today.

Me: Really? Like on the highway?

LE: Yeah, maybe they weren’t bees, but there were a lot. We’ll have to check the news for it.

Me: You think bees will be on the news?

LE: Yeah, they made day into night there were so many.

Me: Well, now you’re just getting carried away.

LE: I think I killed a few.

And then about 2 minutes later:

LE: Oh god, Evil Lady (LE’s old boss) once tried to give me this bread with purple yogurt in it.

Me: Ew.

LE: I know, she said it was some special bread.

Me: Did you eat it?

LE: No……..well, a little.

Me: Ew!

LE: Just the bread part and only a bite.

Me: ….

LE: Well and then I thought I saw a line of cinnamon in it, so I had some more.

And then today she told me quite possibly one of the best the best stories ever:

LE: There is a small dog running around our office building and he came in a took a post it out of my purse.

Me: It’s like off of a TV show. Did you have to chase him?

LE: Yeah, I chased him and cornered him in another office. Then he rolled over for me to rub his belly.

This made me realize that a person chasing a little dog who has stolen something from them is one of the best images you can ever have in your head.

Day 9 - Definitely Maybe

4th of July has come and gone! But all in all it was a good one.

Down to Huntington Beach where we did catch the end of the parade…Legal Eagle and I are breaking our streak of always missing the parades we intend to go to. And then of course we stopped into Hurricanes for some drinks and eventually some sliders. And got primo seating outside later…and continued our streak of falling for buying those shots in test tubes, which are never very good, but we had to have one.

Met up with one of LE’s bosses who is super sweet and has our dream apartment near the beach in a very cute complex…with young people living there!!

Well, conclusions from the 4th:

- Sparklers are illegal in Huntington Beach and very tricky to light.

- British boys are slightly odd:

Convo between LE and one of the British boys (who we will call Ben after British Ben on WILAY):

LE: Is that beer keeping you cool?

Ben: (Holding mostly empty beer bottle to his head) California is heaven.

^ the real British Ben

- LE and I need bikes.

- Fireworks are the same no matter what state you are in.

- It’s very easy to get lost in HB, but you will always find a sidewalk to take a break on and people playing beer pong.

- It’s good to no longer be 16 or 17 or 18 or 19 or 20.

- Pre-eating is by far the greatest thing ever and LE and I will be re-implementing it into our lives.

The rest of the weekend was devoted to nothing. Watched a million movies including the very horrible My Blueberry Nights.

LE’s analysis of the film: This movie makes me want to kill myself.

My analysis of the film: Blueberry pie is like the worst pie anyway…other than pecan. Pecan pie is awful.

But we also got to see the wonderful Definitely, Maybe. Which LE thought would be horrible, but was really…well, not very good, but good in a “Saturday afternoon-nothing special to do-tired from the day before-just want to munch on snacks all day” kind of way.

However, the festivities have come to an end and I have a seemingly uninteresting week ahead of me.

Although maybe this will be the week that I organize everything I have ever written and go through my clothes…since LE and I cleaned our whole apartment yesterday I’m feeling like it’s time to get organized. Oh, and our clean apartment does not make it feel more like Holly and Val’s. It just feels clean.

Oh, but I can’t forget the best part of this upcoming week: The next episode of “The Secret Life of the American Teenager,” or as I call it, “The Jamie Lynn Spears Movie.”

Well, my email box is a mess again and needs some major work, but email is so very overwhelming because they all just sit there and you can’t focus on one because there are 50 other staring at you. I should so keep on top of it better.

Day 8 - It's A Crime

I went to H & M with Legal Eagle the other day because she needed a dress on short notice. It was soooo hard to be in there, but I did so well.

However I fell in love.

This dress was there , but in olive green. It looked wonderfully perfect. But now is not the time to be buying dresses. I didn’t even try it on! (Mostly because I knew that if I did and it looked as great as it did in my head, I would have made myself buy it).

I very much so had a Shopaholic moment, trying to figure out if there was some way to justify buying it. But let’s face it, there wasn’t.

4th of July tomorrow! Beach, parade, surfers and fun! Can hardly wait and LE and I are in much need of this day. Oh, and we can even dress our little babies (cats) up like sailors…yes, we have costumes and yes I will post a picture.

Wednesday, July 2, 2008

Day 7 still - What Makes Me Unique?

I was asked this at an interview yesterday and it had to be the hardest question I have ever been asked.

Interviewer: What makes you unique?

Me: (in head) Well, I’ve seen every episode of What I Like About You and can probably go into a lot of detail of each one. Go ahead, test me.

However, I don’t think that this would have been a suitable answer for an interview of this sort.

If only that show were still on and I were interviewing for a job there…would have been the perfect answer!

Day 7 - Court Is In Session

Legal Eagle and I got to go to a taping of the Supreme Court of Comedy last night (at the very famous Laugh Factory).

While it took me about 20 minutes to figure out that the case was real, it took the whole taping about 3 hours.

But luckily we had Jamie Kennedy there to entertain us, which he didn’t do very well. But LE and I felt like we had accomplished a huge life goal in getting to see him in person. (side note: He is looking much older, fatter, and more haggard than ever).

The case was weird, but provided LE and I with many questions and laughs. Oh and while I don’t know how much I can give away, I do know that I will have to start paying attention to Jack in the Box commercials!

Oh and LE almost got to be a part of the taping, but they already had enough lawyer-y people. (Although they sucked for the most part and didn’t even use big words, which LE would have and did when she explained to me what she would have said).

But this week has been a long one. And it’s only Wednesday. LE and I are in desperate need of the 4th to get here already.

And while this picture has no reference to anything I have posted, it is from one of my favorite episodes ever. When Val has broken up with her first boyfriend and makes all these weird changes and wakes Holly up for a 5 am run.

Val: I guess we’ll start easy with a 5k.

Holly: Well if k stands for Krispy Kreme than I’m in.

It’s really not the best line ever on the show, but it never disappoints me.

OK, I suppose it’s just time to gear up for a day at the beach on Friday. I have all my red, white and blue picked out. Until then, I suppose it’s time to work.
