Day 71 - An Old Favorite

I thought I would post my old food diary that I once wrote and found hilarious. I plan to do a new one soon: enjoy!

Day 1: Sunday, January 13:

Woke up and cleaned with roomie which always makes me hungry so I had half a bagel with cream cheese and then was off to yoga. Also had a Healthy Trinity vitamin...sometimes I think I could live off of these vitamins.

Yoga makes me super hungry so had to have a left over chicken strip from dinner the night before, ate it cold of course. Then we were off to Lucky John's, our most favorite bar, for the Cowboy's game.

Consumed beer...I refuse to give a number. Oh, and one shot, a Drew Drop, invented by our bartender...tastes like candy. And had a grilled cheese on white. I usually prefer wheat, but I don't think that was an option. It was good, in the way that food is good after you've had a few beers. Although I struggle with my love of cheese because I think we are overmilking our cows.

Came home and had some ice cream cake. I bought this last week in a need for cake and it has been more than great to have around. It's a Snickers ice cream cake (be jealous). But I didn't put it away in time, so it melted (but there wasn't much left). Later had a pork chop, flavored with soy sauce and agave. This was good, but could have been because I was starving from beer. "Napped" and then to bed, only to wake up super thirsty in a couple hours and need some juice and water.

Not many greens or anything healthy on this day, but that's what Sundays are about.

Day 2: Monday, January 14:

Half bagel with cream cheese again, and also a clementine and juice and a Healthy Trinity. I really enjoy clementines lately.

3 cinnamon tic tacs on the way to work. Usually I only eat 2 because they spice up my mouth, but I poured out too many today. I prefer the white or orange tic tacs.

Snacked on some little lemon poppyseed scones at work before lunch. They're the ones from Whole Foods and they taste like dough, which I love.

Had a leftover turkey burger for lunch, on a pita. Somedays I really love turkey burgers on pitas, today was one of those days.

Snacked on more scones and goldfish.

Dinner was a real treat. My roomie made this dip with cream cheese, organic chili and shredded cheese. We saw it on a Phili cream cheese label that I have to make crab dip (still haven't done!). We dipped carrots, celery, and pitas into it and it was goooooood! Also had some really good salmon and wild rice. We love fish with wild rice. Although sometimes I think people are overfishing... :P

Day 3: Tuesday, January 15:

Same breakfast, although with milk. I considered only having my vitamin today, but then I realized I'm not a robot.

Forgot to have tic tacs on the way to work...that's a first!

My lunch with my boss was moved to today, so I wanted to be sure I was plenty hungry because it was bound to be good!

We went to Il Moro, Italian, and I had lobster and shrimp tortolloni, iced tea, and part of her swordfish. It was all to die for! I considered skipping dinner because I was so full, but then I realized, again, that I'm not a robot. Then I snacked on some donuts that I packed because I thought I was out of scones (I'm not). I think I had 4 donut holes.

Then I had to have some more of that dip at home (mind you this is after I worked out although I'm sure not working out wouldn't have stopped me. I ate tortillas with it tonight.

Once the roomie got home we had baked potatoes with cheese and sour cream. We also had fruit salad with clementines and grapes...the purple ones. I think we are overpicking green grapes.

(Damn, writing this really makes me want some red velvet cake from Sweet Occasions...I'll have to make a trip to Chicago or maybe I can get some shipped out here...I am important after all).

Day 4: Wednesday, January 16:

Guess what I had for breakfast. Same thing...I like to eat lots of bagels because I don't think we are overbageling just yet.

2 red tic tacs on my way to work...thank god i remembered!

Once I got to work I was practically hungry again. I still forgot that I wasn't out of scones, so I had 3 donut holes, the glazed kind.

Today was one of those days when all the food you have to eat doesn't sound good and you want to spend some money to get anything that does sound good. But I resisted because I made a 3 bean salad with black beans, green beans, and garbanzo beans in it. It's ok, but I'm thinking it needs some chicken or something. Who can live off of beans?! Plus I'm starting to feel bad because we are overbeaning.

Realized later that I still had one donut hole left, so I ate it. And I also had a bunch of goldfish (the cheese kind, so it doesn't affect the overfishing).

Was super excited for dinner...fajitas! Probably one of my favorite foods, chicken, beans, tortillas, lettuce, tomato, onion, sour cream, avocado! Had two of them and they were good. Realized later that I was still hungry so I had some of the best chips in the word, Chili Fritos (C3) and some milk. It was perfection.

Day 5: Thursday, January 17:

It's hard to remember what I ate because I forgot to jot it down and it's been a little while. Probably bagel and clementine and milk and vitamin.

Not sure what I snacked on either. I believe I remembered that we had scones, so I'm sure some of those and of course tic-tacs on my way to work.

I did have 3 bean salad with chicken this time. It was ok, but I won't be making this salad again anytime soon. Just not quite right.

Probably had some goldfish also.

Dinner was a Boca burger becasue Thurs. we go out after Crystal's class so we do dinner separately. I like them. Then we went out for beers. Yum! Some loser tried to give us the rest of his baby pitcher...eww. Like fine to buy someone a drink, but we don't take leftovers.

Then we had to make a pit stop at Taco Bell on the way home. We get hungry and I had a cheesy gordita which is heavenly and nachos. Perfection!

Day 6, Friday, January 18:

Woke up, perhaps hungover. Can't remember if I ate breakfast. I think maybe half a bagel.

But then...roomie had finished her tests so I wanted to take her out special for a celebration. And I took her to.............................................................. The Sizzler! Yes, soak it in. I ate tons because their salad bar is appetizers. Genius! So I had some onion rings, fried corn (one of my favorite foods), mac and cheese, pasta salad, shrimp and mashed potatoes, oh and cheese bread. And a Dr. Pepper...cures hangovers. I know nothing here is green, but it was all good! Plus it's not like we're over-noodling yet.

Dinner was much healthier, chicken ceasar salad. It was good and roomie is really good at making it.

Wow! I barely ate that day...who cares if most of it was fried!

Day 7. Saturday, January 19:

Breakfast was probably half and bagel and all that good stuff it usually is.

Roomie and I had a busy day of shopping for random fun stuff, so we grabbed lunch at Subway. While it was a fun trip because of the crazy family we saw and some guy who brought a beer to have with his lunch, I had a turkey sandwich but they couldn't give me the avocado! It was the only real reason I was having a turkey sandwich. I wanted to cry into my Dr. Pepper.

We bought yellow cake ice cream at the store and I am starting to believe that it's God's ice cream. Like ridiculously good. I pray we are never over-caking ice cream because I'll die without it.

Tonight I challenged myself to make a crab dip like one that I had in Nashville with my family. While it wasn't bad, it wasn't great or like the dip I had there. Disappointment surrounded me.

However, roomie always knows how to cheer me up...we had fish tacos for dinner! Tilapia tacos. With all the goodies and yummies. I even had avocado on mine. Somedays I think I could eat tacos everyday. But then I realize that we are overfishing and in turn, overtacoing. Plus I also really like hamburgers, so I refuse to give those up.

Oh my god, I swear I no longer eat or drink like this. Wait, I mean just no longer eat. OK, realistically, this could have been my food diary from last week (kidding mom and dad!).

Now I'm excited to do a new one sometime soon after the big move. Oh, and the reason I didn't go into work on that Friday is because I didn't work on Fridays...didn't skip because I was hungover. Just clarifying.

Day 70 - So Are You Together Or Not?

Today I had an amazing conversation with my sister.

Me: Is fairytale one word or two?

Oldest sister: One.

Me: I hate hyphenated words.

Oldest sister: Yeah, they're like they can't decide if they want to be one word or two.

Me: Yeah, it's like are you together or not?

Oldest sister: Yeah!

Me: I should blog about this.

Legal Eagle and I are moving to Hollywood very very shortly! This is good for my WILAY goals that I haven't been paying much attention to. (Speaking of which, LE and I are watching it now and it's sooo good!)

Oh, I forgot, our new place has a coffee shop up the hill, could this possibly be our "hang-out place"?

Ah...I'm exhausted...not really, but LE and I made pina coladas, so I'm going to do nothing and drink mine.

Day 69 - Is Chivalry Dead?

I’m getting all Carrie Bradshaw on this blog today and asking the deep questions: Is Chivalry Dead? (only my oldest sister will probably find this funny as we used to make fun of her lame questions every episode)

^ Google’s image of chivalry. Whatever, I expected to see a guy doing the dishes.

OK, back to why I am even talking about this.

Weekend recap:

Friday night - the cast of characters.

LE: You all know her.

LEC: LE’s Coworker.

LECB: LE’s Coworker’s Boyfriend.

B/B: LE’s Coworker’s Boyfriend’s Friend (not to be confused with BB, his nickname is just very similar).

NTM: New Tool McToolson (I occasionally refer to The Doc as Tool McToolson, but then I referred to this new guy as Tool McToolson, so the “New” part had to be added as I confused LE).

Setting - Long Beach Fundraiser Party.

LE and I meet LEC and LECB and B/B and LEC’s sister. So LECB has been trying to set LE up with B/B. He is nice, a bit gooberish and not really LE’s type.

But, alas, they try and LE is nice and B/B seems a little too passive, but not sucky enough for LE to just blow off.

So we all get there, get some drinks (shout-out to LE for being my DD) and meet some more of LEC and LECB’s friends.

Then….we all go sit down in some VIP area or something, whatever. And of course I sit in between LE and B/B. Not a big deal. Then I find out that NTM is there and LECB wants to set me up with him. Whatever, he’s taller than me, good start.

So the sitting continues and during this NTM buys B/B a shot (important info for later).

Then NTM comes over to me and pulls me over the where he is sitting. This is so that B/B can “make his move and get to know LE.”

So I go sit between NTM and LECB while B/B sits next to LE and everyone thinks things are going great. (I am later asked if LE is into B/B and I say, “Oh I don’t know.” Yeah, because I don’t work and live with her and talk to her about everything so how could I possibly know?)

But life goes on and NTM tries to chat me up. We exchange what we do for work. I explain freelancing to him and he says he’s going to “Google” me to see what I’ve written. Good luck, there is some swimmer with the same name who has won a ton of things and some lame TV hostess. And are you really supposed to tell someone you will “Google” them?

He works for Edison. Snore! Although he tried a lame joke that he did something else, can’t remember, but it was not funny.

Night continues and before I know it I am stuck sitting with NTM alone. And while he seemed so-so up until now, he became a total Tool.

The next conversation went something like this:

NTM: Kiss me.

Me: Excuse me?! (combo of raised eyebrows, eye rolling and laughing)

We get back onto normal convo and I wonder if I can find LE. NTM asks me if I want to dance and I realize LE is probably out dancing as she had said “I might be in the mood for dancing tonight.”

So we head towards the dance floor and NTM pauses and I realize he’s chickened-out. He doesn’t want to dance and is waiting for me to make a move out the the floor. Then! LE appears behind me and I rejoice! All three of us head back to our seats.

LE and us quickly chit chat about how she had headed out with B/B to make everyone think they were hitting it off…ha! But NTM can’t handle that LE is there apparently or can’t handle not having attention or whatever.

Then this conversation goes on:

Me: We’re just having girl talk. (said not in a bitchy way).

NTM: Well have fun with that. (and walks away)

We have ourselves a pouter!

Night goes on and I recap LE on everything. Then we meet up with NTM again and the next convo goes like this.

NTM: So we’re closing out here and heading to Seal Beach. You coming? (maybe not exact words, but similar).

Me: Don’t know. I’ll have to see what we want to do.

NTM: Well, do whatever you want.

Oh, thank you! I can do whatever I want? How awesome!

LE and I did end up going to Seal Beach with everyone else, but to a different place than NTM I think. Haha!

So then LE and I of course had to recap our nights and wonder…is chivalry dead?

Not once did NTM ask to buy me a drink (and he bought his friend a shot, so he isn’t that poor) nor did he tell me I looked nice or give me any sort of compliment (LE was overcomplimented by B/B, which we decided is better than no compliment).

Also, what was he possibly expecting? I know LEC and LECB wouldn’t say anything bad about me, so this boy was seriously confused.

Hope this wasn’t too hard to follow.

On a more “chivalrous” note: The Doc texted me Happy Valentine’s Day on Saturday. Said he’d like to take me out when he gets back from traveling this month (I think he has this whole month off from work if I’m not mistaken). The plot thickens…

Day 68 - Too Little Time

Legal Eagle and I are moving really soon! Yikes!

I went back to Chicago for my dad’s birthday and it was soooooo much fun!

Barbar is the same.

I want to be a dog walker and a housesitter.

I have no time for anything.

Must be better at scheduling my life.

Is it March 1st yet?

Day 67 - I'll Take That As A Sign

Double murder in my sweet little neighborhood the other day.

Legal Eagle and I are now moving…to Hollywood!

We found the place in a roundabout way-ish — kind of how Holly and Val found their place on WILAY. Coincidence? Probably.

Things I will miss in this miserable city:

1. Scurve (how can I help him before leaving?)

2. Shirtless bus guy who drinks “coffee”

3. Belly girl (we either saw her twin the other day or she got a haircut)

4. Venus

5. The Lounge

6. Park Ave.

7. Jorge Chavez (Senor Chavez)

8. Georgie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

9. The Gossip Girls down the way who have always looked after us

10. Our big bathroom

11. The teeny tiny library where we went everyday until we had internet

12. Starbucks across the street

13. Stupid Bella Terra mall

Ahh…so happy to be moving. Now if only we could figure out how to move all our stuff. Too bad the cats aren’t stronger.
