Day 53 - Little Weird Things

There is a guy outside my window (not directly, but on the landing nearby) who just carried a bike up the stairs and is now making noises typically made by cars. It’s hard to describe, but I hope he doesn’t pass out because I am not a good enough person to give him mouth-to-mouth.

Now I really am volunteering this Sunday. Should be interesting. But at least it is in Santa Monica, so maybe Legal Eagle and I can grab a bite or a drink up there afterward. Yes, I need there to be something in it for me in order to volunteer.

I killed mine and LE’s tree Barkley, but now I am bringing him back to life. Note: I have killed him once before this and brought him back to life, so here we go again.

LE and I made some amazing twice-baked stuffed potatoes yesterday. I could have lived in it.

I am going back to Chicago in officially less than two months. So weird. And so cold. But so pretty exciting.

I haven’t bought any new clothes in forever! (My forever may be a lot shorter than others, but that makes no difference). I haven’t even bought a cheapo Target dress.

I should really go wash a dish or two, but all I want to do is take a nap.

I see the stray cats less and less lately. It’s very sad and I’m not sure what to make of it. However, I see annoying Scurvy Cat everyday. He is here, outside our door, meowing without fail.

I love and hate the show Stylista and it’s on tonight! I soooo can’t wait! It drives me crazy!

Day 52 - Looking For The Good

There has been so much yucky-ness going on that I am desperately trying to look forward to something good or at least think of good things that are going on.

Well, Barbar has lost a little hair above his eye. Legal Eagle Googled this symptom and it says that it does happen to cats. It’s not like it looks diseased or anything. But something for me to keep an eye on.

LE and I also went to Long Beach this weekend to check things out and see where we might like to live. I am so ready to move there. There were some high school (?) aged kids there on a scavenger hunt and I was way way jealous! It looked pretty fun.

Well, the weather is nice.

I will be going home to Chicago for Xmas. It will be mighty cold and probably snowy and I have no idea what I’ll wear, but I think it will be kind of nice for me to be back in Chicago for a little bit. Who would’ve thought?

LE and I also carved a pumpkin this weekend.

^ It almost makes 80 degrees California feel like fall.

My mom then asked if this was Jack Nicholson. Love it!

So what else is good out here? Thanksgiving is soon, which means good food and cheesecake.

Oh, my life is so not WILAY right now. Maybe this is just a slow point and things will be on the up again. But I totally cannot even think about seeing where I am at in my WILAY progress right now because it would not be good.

So, here’s hoping!

Day 51 - Crimesville Part 2

Been away from a bit because I was dealing with still living in Crimesville.

Legal Eagle’s car was broken into and then there was this door ordeal, but everything is relatively settled now. Except that the apartment management company has not returned any of our calls.

But we are carrying on.

Nothing too exciting, but LE and I are going to drive around Long Beach to get a feel for different areas.

And we might volunteer on Sunday for Planned Parenthood. Yes, me, volunteering. Oh, my horoscope said I should do something unselfish…maybe this is it?

Well, lately our cats have been getting into so much trouble. Mostly they are finding ways to jump on and in everything in the apartment. Even Schatzi is doing it!

I need to find some good pictures to put up.

Oh, maybe I’ll start my food diary next week? Or in the middle of this week? I’ll start it on a day when I eat really healthy stuff, that way I feel awesome!

Day 50 - Oh Marky Mark!

I’m currently transcribing an interview with Mark Wahlberg and it is highly disappointing and disturbing.

While I wouldn’t consider myself a huge fan of his, I think he’s OK…until now.

He is super religious! (This is where my oldest sister says, “Yeah, you didn’t know that?”)

I did not. And this isn’t necessarily the problem I have with him. It’s fine for him to be and I guess I get it since he had all those issues when he was younger and whatnot. That’s how people reform, God…whatever.

But, in his interview he says that people who don’t believe in God are the ones that he’s most worried about and who need saving. Please don’t worry about me Marky Mark. I’m OK. (But feel free to give me a few bucks and maybe I’ll visit a church).

He also says that Jesus spent his time with prostitutes and tax collectors because they needed help. Maybe Jesus was just hanging with the cool kids.

Good luck explaining Boogie Nights to God, Marky Mark.

Also, he complains about being known as Marky Mark. It really makes me mad when celebrities deny where they came from.

When I was in NY, my family and I saw a taping of the Today Show with Will Smith and during a commercial break, he broke out into The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air song. It made me an instant Will Smith fan (and I didn’t even like him before that).

And Will Smith’s show was nothing to be proud of, remember those hats?

^ Not exactly cool.

So Marky Mark, you may want to forget, but we never will!

^ Ha.

Day 49 - Another Food Diary?

So NY Magazine has a food diary section where the have people (celebrities, musicians, chefs, artists, etc.) write about what they eat in a week.

I sent a jokey one to my sister quite some time back because I was inspired to write one after reading a woman who was oh-so concerned about overfishing.

I think I will write another on here.

I’m not sure if I will post daily or wait until my week is over, but I’m sure it will be funny! So stay tuned…

In other interesting news, my sisters may be trying out Crazy Blind Date, which has made Legal Eagle want to give it another try. Great…this should be interesting.

And in other news, saw Religulous this weekend and it was funny! So funny!

Day 48 - No News...

Georgie just stopped by.

He commented on our Halloween decorations and how he liked them (our door and window are covered in webs and whatnot).

I think he also tried to peek in my room a little to see what it looks like or to look for the cats.

I’ve missed him.

And I wish I could dress him in little suits and sweater vests.

I need a new hobby.

Day 47 - Frustrating...

I was looking at a website that I wrote an article on Fall TV and noticed that they have an interview with Seth Rogen up, however they spell his name Rogan. This is very frustrating for me because how can a magazine typo their biggest article? And how can the writer who wrote it have typo-ed the person he interviewed?

So, this has all made me realize that I need to reorganize myself or more so, my freelancing.

And maybe it’s time to think a little bigger.

I do remember before I moved out here, my oldest sister said I should look into freelancing. My first thought was:

Freelancing? Please, I don’t want to do that bullshit. I deserve to be on a staff.

Well, funny how life works.

In nice news, I got a check from a magazine that I did a piece on that I had already forgotten about. Yay!

But now I must think about what I can really write about and want to write about: they say write what you know and Legal Eagle has mentioned two things to me that I know:

LE: You watch more TV than anyone I’ve ever met.

True.

LE: I’ve never seen anyone with more lipglosses than you.

True.

So, I know TV and lipgloss. There must be a career somewhere in there!

^ First image to come up when I Google TV and lip gloss. It’s Juicy Couture lip gloss. It’s ugly.

And finally, in totally awesome news - remember Gossip Girl and her husband. Well LE found out he isn’t her husband, but he’s her gay friend! Love it! So now he will be known as Gossip Girl’s Gay or G3. This makes them both even more amazing. I can barely handle it!

Day 46 - Ladies Who Lunch

Yesterday was a lovely little day!

Legal Eagle ditched work and we went to the Wild Women of Wine Country luncheon and fashion show benefiting breast cancer.

It seemed very much like a thing that trophy wives or women who don’t have to work would do.

The people watching was great and overall, it was so random and something I’ve never done that it was perfect.

Oh and I got to finally bust out my perfect garden party dress!!!!

^All the pink was a perfect accessory!

But it did make me realize that this dress can be worn anywhere because it’s soooo much fun! And I need more fun stuff like it…just a thought!

Not much other news that I can think of…

Day 45 - The Night Of Big Baby, Backwards Cap Guy, My Twin And Oh, The Lady Who Fell

Last night, in an attempt to explore Long Beach and scout out areas to find potential dates for Bride Brain’s wedding, Legal Eagle and I went out for a mild night in Long Beach after her class. It was quite an odd night.

First, Big Baby. LE and I went to a dueling pianos bar and were lucky enough to find seats. Unfortunately some major goober guys found seats near us shortly after. One, who proceeded to attempt to chat up LE (although too drunk to do so?), looked like a big baby. It took me a while to figure out what he reminded me of, but his head is giant and baby-like and when he danced it all clicked. It looked like when LE and I worked at a kiddie daycare and the kids would dance. His limbs were so little and baby-like! He was awkward the rest of the night, but gave us many things to laugh at.

Next, Backwards Cap Guy (BCG). I went to the bar at one point to get a couple of more drinks for us. BCG was hanging out there and noticed me waiting for a while for drinks, so he grabbed a bartender and ordered and paid for mine and LE’s drinks. He had a slacker surfer look to him, who doesn’t in California. He was friendly and not overly creepy or anything. However, he had major douche bag friends. Here is how I know:

LE and I arrive and end up hanging out by a group of people. We both look at them and then at each other with a look that says we think they are douche bags. I probably rolled my eyes. BCG arrived later and he knew these people. Too bad. Oh, and the best part, when he first talked to me, he opened with the line:

Hi Cutie.

Vomit, but it does show me that there just may be some potential in Long Beach. (And he slightly redeemed himself later when he said he liked this place because it was dark and he didn’t have to see the people in the crowd — note, I was in the light, so he was not referring to me).

Now! My Twin! Who knew I had one! Well, when LE and I arrived there was this wasted girl dancing with a glass of wine in hand. She soon comes over to me and LE and says:

Oh My God! When I saw you over there I thought, I didn’t know my twin was here!

She then continues:

I was looking in like a mirror image.

OK, yes, we both have bangs and maybe some similar facial characteristics. But twin? She had too much wine. Later, LE found her singing and being an overall hot mess in the bathroom. Someone needs to control my twin.

Finally, a girl fell down by the bar because she was wasted and later a girl fell down by our seats because she was wasted. Neither girl was LE or me for the record. Hot messes all around!

Day 44 - And My Boyfriend Is...

A Surfer!

Legal Eagle wrote our little email to Bride Brain about our boyfriends and whatnot. Apparently they are both surfers who live near the beach and like a block away from each other!

^ Are you my boyfriend?

And when I thought LE was taking it too far making them both surfers, she responded oh-so-wisely:

Well, come on, everyone out here is a surfer.

So, we didn’t give them names or anything, but apparently we have been dating them for a while, oh and Mom and Dad, you already met them both and adore them. Yeah, we’ve even brought our parents into this!

I’m just happy to have all this documented in email because I have the worst time sticking to lies and remembering stories.

In fabulous other news, my review of Californication is one of the top stories on Buzzine. Go me!

California is quite hot right now, 80s or so, but I here Chicago is quite chilly. Let’s just hope it doesn’t snow there anytime soon!!
